Welcome to Engelheim Vineyards. We are located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in Ellijay Georgia. Our focus is to grow outstanding grapes to produce the highest quality of wine. Our objective is to give all glory to God while integrating our German heritage.
Gary Engel grew up on a farm in South Alabama. After serving 27 years in the Army, Colonel Engel knew he wanted to retire to the mountains and return to his farming roots. In 2007, Gary and Jan Engel decided to purchase the land that is now known as Engelheim (German for “Angel Home”).
The Engel family planted their first vines in 2009 and harvested their first vintage in 2011. In 2014, they opened their bavarian-style tasting room. In 2020, Engelheim broke ground to build our 12,000 square foot event center, Venue in the Vines. We look forward to hosting weddings, corporate events and more!
Our dream also focuses upon building a sustainable future for our family through Engelheim. Our family venture has rewarded them with maintaining a focus on strong Christian values and the gift of seeing first hand how God provides our grapes. We give all thanks to God for allowing him to take care of this piece of His beautiful world and to live in harmony with his perfect plan. We are truly are living the dream at Engelheim Vineyards.

Engelheim is home to over 20+ awards for our outstanding lineup of wines including many double gold and silver medals from the largest competition of American wines, the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition.
On top of our various prestigious awards, we are honored to have received the “2018 Georgia Winery of the Year”, and “Best Georgia Grown Wine” in 2020 for our Petite Manseng and in 2021 for our Red Blend Doxology.

Franconia Dessert Wine
Delicious full-bodied dessert wine made from our Petit Manseng. This wine has many notes of lemon, orange and melon, with a rich, sweet, smooth finish. Perfect to enjoy after a meal!
Made from our estate grown Chambourcin, this wine offers notes of strawberry and raspberry with a crisp, sweet finish. If you enjoy a sweeter Rose’, Betty’s blush is sure to please!
This 100% Estate grown blend of Vidal Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Traminette and Petit manseng is a beautiful, full-bodied wine that offers flavors of delicious fruit with subtle nutty and floral notes!
Hummingbird is 100% Estate grown Chambourcin, with a touch of Merlot, and features chacteristics of vanilla and coffee offering red and black berry flavors. Slightly sweet and fruit-forward wine, aged in Hungarian oak, exhibits a lingering fruity and spicy finish
Pinot Grigio is a pleasingly fragrant wine with notes of citrus, green apple, and honeysuckle. The crisp acidity and golden tones are sure to refresh.
Our 100% Estate grown Traminette is a perfectly balanced white with crisp acidity, a hint of sweet, floral, and citrus flavors with a slight buttery finish.
Estate grown Cabernet Sauvignon, aged in French and Hungarian Oak, is a full-bodied wine with notes of black cherry, currant and spice. Finishes smooth with just the right balance of tannins and wonderful depth.
Our Chardonnay has notes of citrus, apple and melon, complemented by a slight spice and balanced acidity. We age our Chardonnay in both stainless steel and French oak for a crisp yet creamy finish.
Rich, chocolate and cherry dessert wine, made from our Chambourcin grape. A perfect balance of richness with a deep dark chocolate finish!
This 100% Estate Grown Vidal Blanc has notes of apricot, apple and peach that give it full mouth feel and a crisp light finish! Nice balanced acidity complete this wonderfully balanced white wine!
Uur Eudaimonia Merlot is a deliciously balanced wine aged in Hungarian Oak. This fruit forward red has flavors of cherry and vanilla with light tannins and a slightly spicy finish! Easy drinking!
A blend of our Petite Verdot, Syrah and Zinfandel grapes, that together create a multi-layered wine with a nice complex structure. Flavors of cherry, black plum, mild spice and earth, make this wine luscious!
Estate grown Rosé, made in the Provence style, is beautifully fruity fresh and crisp with notes of red berries and a slight hint of spice on the finish.
Sweet Molly is an award winning fruit-forward wine that is our sweetest white and features our Traminette grape. Sweet Molly pairs perfectly with spicy dishes.
Trillium is a 100% Estate grown “Bordeaux” blend of Cabernet Savignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Chambourcin. Nice fruit and acidity flavors of black cherry, black currant, and anise. Bronze Medal awarded in San Francisco.
Renegade Lemonade is a light, refreshing semi-sweet wine made exclusively from lemons. It has complex layers of citrus and a perfect balance of tart and sweet.
